As a Mom, How Can You Take Care of Yourself?

Moms, you need to take care of yourself. You’re the one who cares for everyone in the family. You are important and worthy of care and break.  You don’t really have to escape from your house to do it. Here are some ways you can take care of yourself.

Move slowly, but purposely

Rather than always pushing yourself to finish things as quickly as possible all the time, move slowly. When you wake up in the morning, feel free to enjoy a cup of coffee and get slowly get ready. I don’t mean being lousy. Just relax and plan your tasks or to-do’s for the day. Also take some time at the end of your day to wind down alone or with your husband. You will eventually get more things done if you take things slowly, but purposely.

Do the small things that make you happy

Get yourself some tea time within the day if it makes you feel relaxed. Grab some dark chocolate in mid-afternoon. Read a book. Write. Bake.  Just do the small things that make you happy. They can be anything small that easily fits into your day. Make time for the small things you love.

Teach your kids to help

When your kids can already reach and fetch items for you, start teaching them to help you do little chores at home. Your kids will be happy to step up. Teach your kids to help you with little tasks and you will find it rewarding. When you ask for small favors, ask your kids gently, with a smile. Taking a strict stance will result in utter refusal. Asking little help with a gentle voice will go really well.

Take care of your health

Never skip meals or eat a few just because you’re focusing on feeding your kids. You need to eat more so you have energy. If you enjoy getting a regular massage, enough sleep, etc., put them in your schedule. Take supplements and go for exercises to help you feel better. When you’re healthy, whole, and strong, you can give more to your family.

Catch up with friends

Plan play dates with your mom friends or plan a mom’s night. Catch up with your friends. You can even invite them to your house. It will be good to talk to other moms and realize you’re not alone in your struggles as a mom.  This will help you feel less anxious and isolated.

Your life is better when you take care of yourself. Aim to be happy and blessed. How do you take good care of yourself, moms?
